About Lewis Books

British-born. Globally rooted. Beautifully made.

Lewis Books is an independent publishing house based in London, founded by editor and creative director Claudio Harris. Inspired by a lifelong love of literature and a deep respect for craftsmanship, Lewis Books brings together timeless storytelling and thoughtful design to create books that feel as good as they read.

The roots of Lewis Books reach back to Rio de Janeiro, where Claudios grandfather, Milton, ran a renowned studio producing handmade, high-quality books. Claudio grew up in that studio, learning the quiet discipline of bookmaking — folding pages, trimming covers, understanding that a book is both a vessel for words and a physical object of beauty.

That legacy lives on in everything we do.

From reimagined classics and bold new voices to collectors editions and literary gifts, our titles are curated with care, crafted with intention, and built to last. We champion authors, elevate design, and believe that every book is a chance to leave a mark — on a shelf, on a mind, and in the world.

Lewis Books is where heritage meets innovation, and where every publication tells two stories: the one within its pages, and the one behind its making.

Founders Note

This publishing house began with my grandfathers hands — folding, stitching, pressing books in his studio in Rio. Lewis Books is my way of honouring that legacy while building something new in London. Every book we make carries a little of him, a little of me, and a lot of care.”
